On 15 October 2026, CODEX director, Adrian Papahagi, gave a paper on the fragment from a thirteenth-century manuscript of the Nibelungenlied once preserved as flyleaf of Alba Iulia, Batthyaneum Library, MS III.70.
The paper, entitled “Das Nibelungenlied als Einbandmakulatur”, was presented at the international conference “Les avatars de la Chanson des Nibelungen. Actualisation d’un texte fondateur de la littérature européenne”, organised by Drs Denis Bousch and Thérèse Robin at the Université de Paris Est – Créteil on 15-16 October.
